Privacy Policy

If you don't make an account, we don't store anything about you. Ingredients you type or photograph exist only in your browser for that session and disappear when you leave.

If you make an account, we store:

• Your email address
• A scrambled (hashed) version of your password — we never see or store the actual password
• Your name and profile picture, if you signed in with Google and Google provided them
• Your kitchen inventory: the ingredients you've added, which location they're in, any expiry dates you chose to set, and when items were added or confirmed

If you join the email list, we store the email address you gave us and the date you signed up. That list lives in a private Google Sheet.

Automatically, our host (Netlify) records aggregate traffic statistics — page views, rough visitor counts, which pages are popular. This is measured on the server and does not use cookies or identify you individually.

When you upload a photo of your kitchen, it's sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify what food is in it. Once the ingredients are extracted, the photo is not saved — not by us, and not to any database. Only the resulting list of ingredient names is stored, and only if you have an account.

This app uses Anthropic's Claude API for two things: reading ingredients from photos, and generating meal suggestions. That means your photos and ingredient lists are transmitted to Anthropic to produce results for you.

Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. We don't send your email address, name, or account details to the API — only the food information needed to generate a suggestion.

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. That's it. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics scripts.

If that ever changes — for example, if we start running ads — we'll ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Nobody, except the services required to run the app:

• Supabase — hosts the database where accounts and inventory are stored
• Netlify — hosts the website
• Anthropic — processes photos and generates meal suggestions
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it for advertising.

Your account and inventory stay until you delete them. Email list entries stay until you ask to be removed. Aggregate traffic statistics are kept by Netlify according to their own retention schedule.

Email hello@wehavefoodathome.appand ask. We'll delete your account, your saved inventory, and your email list entry, and confirm when it's done. You don't have to give a reason.

If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to request a copy of your data, correct it, or object to how it's processed. Same email.

This app isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Passwords are hashed, never stored in readable form. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. That said, no system is perfectly secure, and this is a small independent project rather than a large company with a security team. Please don't store anything in it you'd be devastated to lose.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll note it on the site. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
